Chapman Ducote 5Sporting a background that boasts the mastery of multiple motorsport disciplines, Chapman Ducote transitioned into the American Le Mans Series in 2007 in GT2, raced GT1 in the legendary DBR9 Aston Martin, and joined Intersport Racing`s LMP1 effort with an AER-powered Lola in 2009 with former Series champions Clint and Jon Field.  Since 2009, Ducote has remained with the Intersport team and has continued to race Le Mans prototypes. 2012 saw Chapman once again in the driver’s seat of the LMPC OREGA-FLM racecar, but with the newly formed Merchant Services Racing team, which Chapman co-owns. He raced with numbers 7 & 8, along with Kyle Marcelli and several drivers new to the car. In 2017, Chapman returns to the profession with an eye to Europe and the Championship podium.

Chapman Ducote has raced karts, formula cars, IMSA Lites, GT cars in several series, Daytona Prototypes, and Le Mans prototypes.  He has 14 American & International Le Mans series podiums to his name, when he entered his 7th season in ALMS. After a breif break from racing, Chapman is returning to the profession for the 2017 IMSA season.

2017

On March 18, 2017, Chapman Ducote competed in The 65th Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by “Fresh from Florida” race. After an intense qualifying session, the number 26 BAR1 motorsports ORECA prototype claimed pole position to start race in 1st position.  Following 12 hours of combat, of which Ducote drove an unheard of quadruple stint, the No. 26 car came away with a hard earned podium finish.

This is the 17th podium finish of Ducote professional racing career.
Ducotes’ latest finish places him in good contention for the overall championship trophy. He is currently 2nd in the 2017 WeatherTech Sportscar Championship series, as well as, 2nd overall in the Patron Endurance Cup Championship.

2017 Rolex 24 at Daytona, Chapman drove the No. 20 Gas Monkey Energy Drink / Merchant Services Ltd prototype. ORECA FLM09 driven by Don Yount, Buddy Rice, Mark Kvamme, Chapman Ducote and Gustavo Yacaman.

2013-2016

Chapman had retired briefly but still took part in HSR events and participated in ROAR before the 24 (2014-2016).

2012

In addition to his rigorous business pursuits and continued driving training in 2012, Chapman accepted the challenge of building a new American Le Mans race team, as co-owner of the new Merchant Services Racing Team.  While this new opportunity brought yet another responsibility to Chapman’s packed schedule, it also allowed him to expand his experience in the racing world to the role of team owner.  Through Chapman’s hands-on approach to maximizing veteran assets and mentoring star drivers, Merchant Services Racing has shown incredible success and promise in its first year on the racing circuit and has provided Chapman a vehicle to more closely determine his own racing programs in the future.  As a team in 2012, Merchant Services Racing has already garnered 3 podiums, with Chapman himself at the helm for the Road America podium.

2011

For the 2011 Season, Chapman set his sights on both the American and European races, taking four podiums with a win in Italy. On July 3rd, 2011, Chapman Ducote made his debut into European Motorsports at the 6 Hours of Imola, in the illustrious series of Intercontinental Le mans Cup races. This win marked Chapman’s first win in Europe. Along with the Imola win, Chapman’s efforts garnered podiums at Silverstone [UK], Mazda Laguna Seca [US], and hair-raising podium at the Petite Le Mans [US].

2010

Raced No.88 Oreca-FLM09 in LMPC for Intersport Racing.  Suffered a broken leg and could not participate in the first part of the season, but garnered several top five (5) finishes throughout the second half of the season, and closed out the 2010 ALMS season in style with a second place podium finish at Petit Le Mans in Atlanta, Georgia.

2009

Made his debut in LMP1 and raced the No. 37 Lola B06/10 LMP1 for Intersport Racing, winning three (3) podium finishes. At St. Petersburg, only in his second LMP1 appearance, qualified the car, and drove the opening stint in a runner-up finish, claiming the second place spot on the podium at the technical street circuit.  At Long Beach, teamed with Jon Field to claim another podium bringing the LMP1 home in third place.  In Salt Lake City, Ducote claimed a third consecutive podium in the Lola-AER.  Ducote had two (2) more top five (5) finishes in 2009, rounding out his season with third place championship points.

2008

At the Mobil-1 12 hours of Sebring, made transition to GT1 in the no. 008 Aston Martin DBR9. Drove to third place finish with Terry Borcheller and Antonio Garcia to claim Ducote’s first ALMS podium.  A few short weeks later, Ducote earned a third place finish at St. Petersburg. At Road America, Ducote again teamed with Borcheller and garnered a runner-up finish in between two (2) GT1 Corvettes.  At Mosport, Ducote’s favorite track, he brought the Aston Martin home in third place, very close to a second place finisher.  In the always energetic motor city, Detroit, Ducote displayed his prowess for street circuits and ascended the podium once again.  In a very difficult season and against all odds, Ducote ascended the podium an unprecedented five (5) times in 2008, and claimed third place in the 2008 GT1 championship.

2007

Made two (2) top ten (10) finishes in a GT2 in his American Le Mans rookie season.  Ran IMSA Lites concurrently in the L1 class to claim fifth in the championship.

About Ducote

Chapman DucoteChapman Ducote

Professional Race Car Driver, Entrepreneur & Athlete. These three words describe Chapman Ducote’s myriad pursuits over the past two decades.

After graduating from the University of Miami in three years, Chapman Ducote accepted an investment banking position with Jeffries & Company in New York City for a brief one year stint before he went on to money management and day trading with CIBC Oppenheimer in Texas.  Missing South Florida and ready to start his own business ventures, Chapman returned to Miami Beach and embarked on a series of successful deals, ranging from real estate investing and developing (with projects including the Brooklyn Hotel, the Pelican Garage, Iguana Point, and Coral Cay – a private island in the Bahamas) to building and maintaining several of his own companies.  Beginning in 1994, and enduring throughout this foray into the business world of investing and developing, Chapman continued to pursue his true passion: racing on a professional level.  Over the years, Chapman has won several of the most competitive races in the American Le Mans Series in a variety of cars including: LMP1, LMPC, and a GT1 car for Aston Martin.

Currently, Chapman Ducote is the President and CEO of Merchant Services LTD, a full scale, vertically integrated credit card processing company headquartered in the heart of Miami Beach.  Founded by Chapman in 2005, Merchant Services LTD has grown to over 500 employees and is a tier one merchant service processor that is certified by Visa/MasterCard and is a leading provider of merchant processing solutions and products nationwide and internationally.  While there are thousands of sales offices that broker merchant services throughout the country, Merchant Services LTD is one of a handful of certified financial institutions that are actually able to process a credit card transaction from start to finish on behalf of a merchant.  While unsurprisingly Chapman now focuses the vast majority of his time and energy on building Merchant Services LTD, as well as its sister company, Starboard Funding which runs a merchant lending program.

Notably, in 2010, against competitors who race as their full-time job, Chapman garnered an incredible second place finish at the final race of the American Le Mans season called the Petite Le Mans, a twelve hour race that took place in Atlanta, Georgia. Looking forward, Chapman plans to extend the reach of his racing career to the European circuit and race the 6 hours of Imola, the fourth race in the line of Intercontinental Le Mans Cup.

For the 2011 Season, Chapman Ducote set his sights on both the American and European races, taking four podiums with a win in Italy. On July 3rd, 2011, Chapman Ducote made his debut into European Motorsports at the 6 Hours of Imola, the fourth race in the illustrious series of Intercontinental Le mans Cup races. And, whats a debut it was! Pitted against a field of seasoned European competition, Ducote rose to the top in his JMB Racing #99 Formula Le Mans (FLM) machine, and claimed his place on the coveted top step of the podium, making this his tenth career Le Mans Series podium.

In 2013, Chapman took on an additional position as the Director of Americas for Swedish yacht building company, Delta Powerboats. One may say his love for racing and appreciation for carbon fiber is what pulled him towards the carbon fiber yacht building company and the beginning of Delta Carbon Yachts in Miami.

Chapman made the decision to step away from racing to focus on both his personal and business goals. His intention to fully retire was trumped by his love for motorsports. He participated in HSR events in 2013 and attended ROAR before 24 in both 2014 and 2015 but decided not to compete in the season. He has been able to make time for occasional recreational go-charting and motorcross in order to feed his innate need for speed.

Ultimately, as 2016 came to a close, he announced that he would come out of retirement and compete in the 2017 IMSA season.

Outside of racing and work at his office in Miami, Chapman enjoys road biking and yachting in Palm Beach, snow-boarding, snow-biking and snowmobiling in Aspen and spear fishing and free-diving in the Bahamas. Chapman Ducote has set a personal free-diving record by diving 128 feet on a single breath of air.  Lastly, Chapman has demonstrated his love for the arts and his commitment to the Miami Beach community through his service on the Board of Directors of the Miami Symphony Orchestra & benefactor of the Perez Art Museum Miami. Clearly not just your average racer; over the years Chapman Ducote has developed into a well-rounded individual and successful business man and continues to harvest new opportunities in both the business and racing worlds.
